OFF THE GRID (2013)

OOR: “Kees Jonkheer comes awfully close to Netherlands’ finest”

Musicfrom.nl: “…if Case continues to develop himself, his future looks bright”

Eindhovens Dagblad: “exceptionally strong debut”

After his well received debut album Soul Cream Head Shake (2011), Case Yonkhear releases his second full-lenght album Off The Grid in Spring 2013. The album is recorded and produced between September and end of December 2012 the Dubway Studios in NYC.

With a band of local musicians, Kyle Sanna, guitar, Andrea Monorchio bass, Nikolaus Schuhbeck drums. Kees plays piano and keyboard, does the vocals.

The album is produced by Chris Montgomery who also has been working for Grammy Winning initiative Artist Den, and has worked with NYC-producer Peter Katis (Mercury Rev, The National), en has been live-producing artists such as Rachel Platten.

Like the debut album Off The Grid is well received, in April 2013 on his personal weblog music critic Hans van der Maas calls Off The Grid the surprise of 2013. Lading music mag OOR writes: “…when it comes to his musical and composatory choices and griddy performance, Kees Jonkheer (his real name) comes asfully close to the top in The Netherlands”. Also Belgian music-blog Rootstime is ‘amused’ and calls Case Yonkhear a ‘special case’: “he often is surprising, and original things happen you do not hear elsewhere”, and: “The details are of the kind of volatility, we like very much”.

Single “Thought I Found Love And I Made It” becomes a modest underground-hit.
